Chaimaa’s world was slowly fading. Cataracts had taken her sight, making it difficult to
recognise faces, move safely, or live independently. Each day felt heavier as darkness
replaced the life she once knew.
When Chaimaa arrived at one of our outreach eye camps, she carried fear – but also hope. After a simple cataract surgery, she opened her eyes and saw clearly for the first time in years. The faces of her loved ones came back into focus, along with her confidence, dignity, and freedom.
Her blindness was preventable. Her sight was restored in minutes.
But while Chaimaa can see again, millions are still living in avoidable blindness simply
