Albasar and King Salman Humanitarian Aid Centre Execute Three Blindness Prevention Campaigns in Pakistan

Albasar International Foundation, in collaboration with the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works, carried out a medical campaign to combat cataracts, a leading cause of blindness, in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. This initiative was part of the voluntary Saudi Light project aimed at preventing blindness and related eye diseases.

In Sheikhpura:

  • The Albasar medical team conducted a campaign from March 1 to March 8, 2024.
  • A total of 5,463 patients visited the campaign clinics.
  • Patients received necessary medications and treatments for various eye conditions.
  • The team performed 411 cataract removal surgeries and lens implantations.
  • Additionally, 1,005 eyeglasses were distributed during the campaign.

In Karachi:

  • From April 15 to April 21, 2024, the medical campaign clinics in Karachi received 4,263 patients.
  • The medical team performed 414 surgeries and provided diagnoses and treatments.
  • 914 sunglasses and prescription eyeglasses were distributed to enhance vision.

In Khuzdar, Balochistan:

  • At the Ibrahim Eye Hospital in Khuzdar, Balochistan, the Albasar medical team conducted a campaign from April 22 to April 28, 2024.
  • The team performed 403 surgeries for patients suffering from cataracts.
  • These surgeries included cataract removal and lens implantation.
  • In the external clinics, 3,993 patients received necessary treatments, medical advice, and medications for eye diseases.
  • 902 eyeglasses were also distributed during the campaign.
