Albasar Executes Two Blindness Prevention Campaigns in Sudan

A medical team from Albasar International Foundation successfully conducted two free medical campaigns in the cities of Shouk and Kassala in the Republic of Sudan. These campaigns were supported by the Direct Aid Society of Kuwait and took place from April 20 to May 1, 2024.

In Shouk:

  • The Albasar medical team met with 4,190 patients at the local hospital’s campaign clinics.
  • Patients received valuable medical consultations and were provided with necessary treatment units and medications for various eye conditions.
  • The team performed 419 cataract removal surgeries and conducted lens implantations.
  • Additionally, 1,250 sunglasses and prescription eyeglasses were distributed to those in need.

In Kassala:

  • Albasar Foundation carried out a second medical campaign at the Kassala city hospital.
  • During this campaign, the medical team examined 4,000 patients.
  • Patients received diagnoses and appropriate treatments.
  • A total of 397 surgeries were performed.
  • Similarly, 1,250 pairs of eyeglasses were distributed to enhance vision.
