In a momentous stride towards advancing eye health, Al Basar proudly inaugurated its latest endeavour – the Makkah Hospital branch in Atbara, Sudan. This monumental achievement, made possible through the gracious support of esteemed partners, marks yet another milestone in our ongoing mission to provide essential medical care to communities in need.

On February 26, 2024, Al Basar, alongside distinguished guests including Dr. Muhammad Abdel Majid Abu Qarun, Governor of the Nile River, and key representatives from Sudan’s Ministry of Health, gathered in celebration of this significant occasion. The opening ceremony of Makkah Hospital underscores our unwavering dedication to enhancing accessibility to quality eye care services.

Makkah Hospital in Atbara stands as a testament to our commitment to excellence, equipped with cutting-edge facilities and staffed by skilled ophthalmologists. With a capacity to accommodate up to 400 patients daily, the hospital’s specialised clinics cater to a range of eye conditions, including retina, glaucoma, and cataracts. Moreover, our team is poised to perform up to 50 surgeries daily, offering life-changing interventions to those in need.

Dr. Muhammad Abdel Majid Abu Qarun, in his address, lauded Al Basar’s pivotal role in localising eye care services within Sudan. He emphasised the profound impact of Makkah Hospital in serving the citizens of Atbara and the wider Nile River State, affirming his steadfast support for our endeavours.
