Our history
Al Basar International Foundation was established in 1989 to provide free eye care services to underserved communities worldwide. Recognising the widespread lack of basic eye care in developing countries, a dedicated team of medical professionals and volunteers committed to fighting preventable blindness.
Initially focused on outreach programmes, Al Basar sent teams to remote areas to offer free cataract surgeries, eye exams and glasses. Over time, the organisation has expanded its global outreach and special programmes, and established eye hospitals across Africa and Asia, ensuring sustainable access to quality eye care.

1999
Makkah Eye Hospital was built to assist communities.
