Women, in particular, bear the brunt of these hardships. Gender disparities, coupled with poverty and lack of resources, mean that many are left untreated—despite suffering from preventable or curable conditions. The ability to see is not simply a matter of health; it is a pathway to education, employment, and independence. When that is taken away, entire lives and communities are affected.

At Al Basar International Foundation, we are working to change this reality. Our mission is to bring light to lives clouded by darkness, by building, renovating, and equipping eye hospitals in underserved areas. With a firm commitment to making eye care accessible and affordable, we have already established 29 hospitals across Africa and Asia—each serving as a beacon of hope for those living without sight.

These hospitals are not just medical facilities—they are lifelines. Staffed by dedicated professionals and equipped with modern tools and technologies, they offer a full range of eye care services, from basic check-ups to complex surgeries. More importantly, they bring these services closer to those who would otherwise have to travel great distances or go without care altogether.

However, our work is far from done.

Millions still await their chance to see. Villages remain without clinics. Old hospitals cry out for renovation. Essential equipment is lacking in too many places. That’s where you come in.
