Celebrating the Success of Our Yemen Outreach Programme

From 21 – 31st August, Al Basar conducted a successful outreach programme at Makkah Eye Hospital in Aden, Yemen, providing critical eye care services to 1,251 beneficiaries. Of these, 592 were men and 659 were women, underscoring the wide-reaching impact of this initiative. For many, this programme was a beacon of hope, restoring vision and offering the gift of sight. During this time, 400 eye surgeries were successfully performed, making a lasting difference in the lives of those affected by vision impairment.

Yemen is currently experiencing one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises, with over 20 million people in need of urgent assistance. Most of these individuals are women and children, making the need for accessible healthcare services even more pressing. Amid this landscape of hardship, our intervention at Makkah Eye Hospital was not just a medical initiative but a lifeline.
The high demand for eye care services in Yemen drove the success of this project. Many in the region are struggling with preventable blindness or vision impairments due to the lack of medical resources. Al Basar’s outreach programme provided free eye consultations, treatments, and surgeries, helping to alleviate the burden for hundreds of families.

This project exemplifies the mission of Al Basar – to fight preventable blindness and restore sight to those most in need. By offering vital eye care services in a country ravaged by conflict and humanitarian challenges, we continue to be a beacon of hope for Yemen’s most vulnerable communities.
Our work is far from over. With millions still in need, Al Basar remains committed to making a difference, one vision restored at a time.
